Black Silicon Carbide

Black Silicon Carbide abrasive is electrically fused in an arc furnace at very high temperatures from a mixture of Quartz and Petroleum Coke as main raw materials.

Also called Carborundum, Silicon Carbide is a very hard material with a Mohs hardness of 9.1. It is brittle and sharp and widely used as an abrasive and protective coatings material. It has high electrical and heat conductivity.

Common uses and industries include Anti-Slip, Concrete Strengthening, Blasting Media, Grinding, Polishing, Lapping, Metal Preparation, Ceramic Shapes, Laminates, Coatings, Filtration, Abrasives, Polishing, Milling, Filler, Refractories.
